Frequently Asked Questions

Whether preserving the heritage features of an existing home or building a grand architectural home from the ground up, we pride ourselves on honesty, dedication and an eye for detail. View some of our recent projects below.

Getting Started

  • Generally, there is a fee to provide a fully itemised quote on custom builds. The reason is that custom homes are individually unique and more complex than volume-type speculative homes. Custom builds generally have more detail in their design, engineering elements and scope of works, and this therefore requires more time to accurately quote the project. BuildTrend Homes provides its clients with building quotes that are genuine and realistic to the scope of work for each build. This ensures that unwanted building variations and hidden building costs are avoided, which can save clients money during the build.

  • Yes, and we'd encourage it. You don't need a finalised set of plans to start the conversation with us. We're happy to get involved at the concept stage, before any drawings are done, and use our experience and network to recommend the right architect for your project. This early involvement often saves time and money and helps avoid the frustrations that can come with the building process.

  • No. We regularly work with clients who haven't engaged an architect yet. We can recommend architects suited to your style, budget, and vision based on our experience and local network.

  • We service the Macedon Ranges, Hepburn, Central Victoria and surrounding regions, including Woodend, Kyneton, Gisborne, Mount Macedon, Romsey, Lancefield, Malmsbury, and Daylesford.

The Build Process

  • We build architectural and contemporary new homes, manage large renovations and extensions, and specialise in period and heritage homes.  We have particular expertise and knowledge with rural/acreage builds.

  • Yes. With a lifetime of experience living and working in rural areas, we understand the additional planning required for small acreage and rural allotments, including septic systems, water supply, driveways, and power infrastructure.

  • Yes. We manage building permit applications on behalf of our clients as part of our full-service approach.

  • Renovating heritage homes is one of our specialties. We work to faithfully restore period features to a high standard, using our network of specialist suppliers and tradespeople to keep every detail as authentic as possible.

  • It is important for Clients and the Builders to work together closely during a Building project.  Some Clients prefer to appoint an Architect to mange the build on their behalf. At BuildTrend Homes, all our building projects involve regular on-site progress meetings throughout the build, so that clients and architects remain informed and confident at every stage, from initial planning through to handover.
